Over 44% of households with children get food stamps in Syracuse, according to census data. It is also possible there will befreezes for emergency food networks and providers. We are witnessing possible tariffs and other actions that increase the cost of living, specifically food. It isa good reminder to share withyouthat the IFC does not receive any government funding.
IFC receives and distributes approximately 6 Tons of non-perishable food Items per MONTH! ("'The approximate average wholesale value of one pound of donated product at the national level is determined to be $1.74, based upon a study performed by Feeding America that equates to $8440/ mo., the benefit to our pantries (unsustainable without your help!)
For example, we use your donations to buy food like Ensure, Pancake Mix and Syrup, cereals, oatmeal, and other Items that we don't always receive due to their cost. We just made a purchase of cereal and can't believe how the prices have increased for this popular item.
We are blessed with faithful support from many individuals, churches, organizations and local charitable foundations, along with the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee, plus the Syracuse University Ceramics Arts Dept. and Clayscapes (the sponsors of our annual Empty Bowls Fundraiser), that help provide the needed resources for those we serve.
So, our message is one of commitment to our mission, consistent service to our neighbors, good stewardship of our resources and gratitude to all of you for your sustaining support.
